1. It should be very accurate and easy to handle.
2. It should provide directional stability.
3. It should multiply the turning effort applied on the steering wheel by the
driver.
4. It should be irreversible to certain degree so that the shocks of road surface
encountered by the wheels are not transmitted to the driver’s hand.
5. The mechanism should have self –righting effect so that when the driver
releases the steering wheel after negotiating the turn the wheel should try to
achieve straight ahead position.
